National Institute of Rural Open Schooling Board
The National Institute of Rural Open Schooling Board (NIROS) New Delhi has heralded a revolution in the open school education scenario of the state and the nation over the last decade. Operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Education (MOE), set up in March 1977, NIROS pioneers the constitutional provisions of open school education for all.
We aim to translate the educational aspirations of students from not just the state, but across the nation, into reality through our qualitative open educational facilities.
The mission of NIROS is to provide learner-centric quality school education, skill upgradation, and training through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of education. Our goal is to ensure that education is accessible to all, regardless of their socio-economic background, by offering flexible learning opportunities.
NIROS, under the auspices of the Open Schooling initiative of the Indian Government's Education Department, is vested with the authority to register, examine, and certify students up to pre-degree level courses.
Our programs deliver education through printed materials, face-to-face counseling (Personal Contact Programmes), lab practicals/training, eBooks, and online support.
The syllabi, duration, examination, and certification standards of NIROS align with those of formal examinees under the Indian Government's Education Department's Open Schooling. Our certification is equivalent to that of other member boards of Open Schooling on a reciprocal basis, ensuring wide recognition and acceptance.
NIROS provides education nearest to your place of stay or work, with flexibility in time, place, choice of subjects, and examination schedules. This flexibility aims to suit your personal requirements and interests, making it easier for you to achieve your educational goals.
We encourage you to explore our website and prospectus carefully to make informed choices about your subjects and study plans. Our website and prospectus offer detailed information about various courses of study, subject choices, credit transfer, credit accumulation, study modes, and examination and certification flexibility.
NIROS offers extensive support through its Study Centers, which provide Personal Contact Programmes (PCP), Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA), and specially developed study materials. Our admissions process is streamlined through identified Study Centers and online registration, making it convenient for you to join us.
